“GOD DELIVERS AGAIN”

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,

answered and said to the king,

“O, Nebuchadnezzar, …

If it be so, our God whom we serve,

is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace,

and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king”!

Daniel 3:16-17

When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

would not bow to the king’s idols of gold;

the angered king said to the three,

who were most determined and bold;

“Now at the sound of the music,

my command you are to heed”!

“You’ll be thrown into the fiery furnace;

if you don’t bow, and worship my gods indeed”!

Then said the three,

“Only to the one true living God, will we bow!

To start the music, there’s no need”!

The king boasted, “Who is your God,

that he can deliver you from me”?

Then said the three,

“He is the only God who IS ABLE to deliver!

“And he will deliver us, you’ll see”!

The king exclaimed in frustration:

“Because you would not bow

to my idols made of gold,

Let’s see if YOUR GOD will deliver,

as you have boldly stood here and told.”!

Now the three Hebrew children

didn’t know how God would work things out,

but they knew they had to keep on believing,

and give no place to doubt!

So the king summoned his mighty men

and handed them down a decree;

“I’ll teach those foolish Hebrews.

They’ll wish they would have bowed their knees.!

Turn on my fiery furnace, seven times hotter than before;

and bind them about their hands and feet,

with strong, unbreakable cords!

These three have troubled my kingdom

and have brought great discord;

Quickly cast them into the flames,

so they will trouble me no more”!

Now the fiery furnace was made so hot,

just as the king had related,

that the mighty men, who threw them in,

were instantly cremated.

Now the king arose in amazement,

and called for all his wise men.

“Do we not agree that we threw in three,

so will you count for me again?

I see four pacing the floor,

and the forth is not as mortal men!”

Then the king declared in great astonishment

as all the court drew near.

“There must truly be something awesome

about this God whom they hold dear”!

Now Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

were brought forth from the midst of the fire.

Their hair was not singed, their bodies not burned,

nor was there even smoke on their attire!

The king then decreed,

“anyone who speaks anything against this God amiss,

will certainly meet with a terrible fate,

far greater than this”!

Then King Nebuchadnezzar boldly proclaimed,

“Blessed be the God of the Hebrew children three;

For he is the great God who delivers,

and he made a believer out of me!”
